The Bean Envy Gooseneck Pour Over Coffee Kettle is a premium grade stainless steel kettle with a 40oz/1.2L capacity, an ergonomic handle and a built-in thermometer. The kettle is made in China and features a triple-thick bottom with a 304 SS on water-contact surfaces and a 430 SS flame/burner. The cap-mounted thermometer is Considered a genius addition that is helpful for checking the temperature of the water. However, some customers reported that the temperature gauge is off by over 10 degrees. Customers also reported that they received two kettles that broke off at the handle. Some suggested that the handle should just be made part of the kettle to prevent this issue from happening. Moreover, a few customers experienced an unpleasant factory oil odor that held through initial cleaning. Cleaning took an extended time and effort that included close to a dozen more boiling, using plain water, vinegar, and baking soda. After all that, the odor still persisted when the kettle is hot. Overall, those without issues with the kettle appreciated the temperature gauge and the slow pour. The built-in thermometer is helpful for quick glances to check if the water is in the ideal temperature range for coffee and tea, making it an ideal choice for the regular tea and French press drinker. However, some customers complained that the description mentioned only stainless steel, but the box included stainless steel and aluminum.
