Answer: We found the straw needed pretty strong sucking power with just icy cold water, so I wouldn’t use the straw with a smoothie in this bottle. But popping the straw off and tipping the bottle to drink works perfectly for water, so I would imagine it would work for smoothies. Personally, I wouldn’t use a sport cap with a smoothie. I switch to a plain screw-on cap and drink as I would from a cup. That way I’m not cleaning sticky smoothie pulp out of my flip lid. :-). This is the BEST water bottle on the market. Love it! -
