Crops can be certified organic if they're grown without prohibited substances such as most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides for three years prior to harvest. Livestock are raised on pastures and treated humanely without growth hormones or antibiotics. Organic products do not contain GMOs or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Answer: Muir Glen's inner can lining is now shiny, metallic copper that is coated with transparent, clear, vinyl plastic. Vinyl has been shown to sometimes contain cancer-causing nitrosamines and sometimes not. Phthalates are in most of the plastics that we use every day. -

Can you clarify the number? In the title it says 12 pack, but in the description it says 6. Thanks!

What kind of tomatoes are these? I see the company sells cans of plum tomatoes, and also these--'tomatoes.' Sure wish I knew what type!
Answer: We use Roma tomatoes in our Muir Glen tomato products. -

SO, the 3 grams of sugar per serving is from the tomato itself and not something added?
Answer: You are correct. The sugar is purely the result of turning 7-8 tomatoes into sauce. -

Answer: To me it seems like a bit thick, with a little substance to it, definitely not thin and watery. -

Answer: Yes, if you have a “working” compost. -

No expiration date on my can, only a bar code. Any idea how to determine it?
Answer: The exp date is printed on the top of the can. -

Do Muir Glenn tomato cans contain BPA?
Answer: These are organic, and since 10/11 organic canned tomatoes haven't used BPA lining. If the inside of the can is orangey, no lining. -

Are these tomatoes or tomato sauce? the can says sauce, the description says tomatoes. My search was for a sauce.
Answer: They are diced organic tomatoes not sauce. -

Sulphate free? Sulphate free?
Answer: It has 'naturally derived citric acid'. Otherwise no listed sulfates.
