Arm System-On-Chip Architecture Subsequent Edition has received a mixed reception from customers. Some say that it is a definitive guide to ARM and a great introduction to the ARM architecture, while others say that it is pretty much useless as a specific reference to any arm chip or architecture. Customers highlight that the book is not updated, and therefore, doesn't cover newer ARM Cortex processors. It focuses on ARM7 and ARM9 architecture and is outdated after the introduction of Cortex A, R, and M series, making SoC topics in this book hopelessly irrelevant. Despite this, the book is valuable because Steve Furber was a key player in developing the ARM processors, and he shares a lot of his insights and rationale for why ARM is the way it is. The book is informative, well written, and an accessible introduction to the ARM; however, it is overdue for a revision, and readers shouldn't use it as a specific reference to any arm chip or architecture.
