Question:
Can I use this on a buffing wheel or Dremel too?
Answer: I'd recommend a stick compound for buffing wheels. I use this paste on scrap leather pieces for finishing. And for the finer grit a paper towel works just fine. Using this on fabric wheels would be a waste of the compound. -
Question:
What are the ingredients. Is there oil or a alcohol base?
Answer: I'm pretty sure they are oil based. -
Question:
Will this remove scratches on car windshield? If so, which grit and would you recommend an orbital tool?
Answer: It depends on how bad the scratches are... If they aren't too deep 5000 8000 14000 50000 100000 Grit set should work perfectly fine to polish off the windshield. It will be easier with a rotary tool, I recommend something with around 3000-5000 PRM with wool polishing pads. -
Question:
Can this be used to obtain a highly polished finish on Sterling Silver?
Answer: Yes, 5k-8k-14k-50k-100k will give your sterling silver high gloss finish. -
Question:
Is this food safe?
Answer: The compound needs to be removed (with alcohol or paint thinner and then rinsed with warm water) before using sharpened knives or polished glassware for food. And the compound itself of course can't be used for food. -
Question:
Will this work on resin?
Answer: Yes, diamond compounds work perfectly on resin, but their effect depends on the grit number. 5k-100k set is meant for the final polishing, it will give the surface perfect shine, but won't remove any scratches. For that coarser grits are needed. -
Question:
Does this work on stainless steal?
Answer: Yes, diamond compound is the best polishing solution ever made, it works on everything from soft metals and plastics and up to diamonds. The 5k-100k grit set is for final polish, when there are already no major scratches on the surface, and you just need to make the steel shine and reflect like a mirror. If you need to remove scratches first, you need to start with rougher grits. -
Question:
How long is the shelf life of these compounds?
Answer: About a year or 2, depending on temperature conditions. But even if it gets dry, it can be soften up merely by holding in hand for couple of minutes or applying any gentle heat (like from a hair dryer).
