Answer: It fits in the top on its side, not upright! -

How do you open it? I used it for the first with hot soup and can't get it open.
Answer: Oh dear, that's unfortunate. I have had no problems with opening mine which I have had for a year now, though it is a little tight to unscrew. Could it be cross threaded? If you cannot get it open, I suggest you contact the seller. -

Does this get hot on the outside?
Answer: Yes, it does. The lid is hard to remove and heat escapes through the sides. My coffee flask stays cold to touch but this one doesn't. Which can only mean heat is escaping. Would not recommend this item. -
Question:
How on earth do you get the lid off?! I put hot soup in mine this morning and now can’t get the lid off.
Answer: Only a guess, but if the soup was steaming hot when you put it in and it's cooled slightly, it has caused a partial vacuum and increased the 'suction' on the lid and seal. Just use a large jar lid opener and 'force' it. Good luck, we love ours. -
